Staff Writer - off.road.cc

Location: Remote working & Bath, Somerset

Closing date: 14th Feb

Industry: Journalist

Sector: Specialist sports publishing, cycling

Discipline: Writer

off-road.cc is one of the UK's largest independent websites for news, reviews and advice for mountain bikers and gravel enthusiasts alike. As we expand our editorial team, we have an exciting opportunity for a new staff writer to join the ranks of producing engaging, informative and fun content.

The ideal candidate could be a journalist already with a passion for riding bikes or a recent graduate looking for their first full-time job in the realms of trail riding and adventure biking. There's a wide variety of content to sink your teeth into, with plenty of room to develop your ideas for features and series. One day you may find yourself testing and reviewing the latest bikes and apparel, and the next, delivering essential guides to help fellow riders out of a tech-pickle or even presenting video content for our YouTube channel. After all, variety is the spice of life!

As a staff writer, you'll assist in managing our social media channels, be on the hunt for news-worthy stories and contribute to weekly content catch-ups where new ideas are developed. Familiarity with mountain and gravel bike culture is essential, which means riding regularly and being aware of off-road nuances.

The successful candidate will work closely with the off-road.cc editorial team, and be expected to visit the Bath office once a week for a team day.

Company

Our story starts in 2008 when Farrelly Atkinson (F-At) Ltd was started by Dave Atkinson and Tony Farrelly as part of the launch strategy for road.cc – the website for pedal powered people.

At first there were three, Tony, Dave, and Oli – the Original Three, soon joined by Elaine Curtin our head of commercial cos it’s all very well being super creative but you’ve got to make money too.

Since then the F-At team has grown to over 30 people – and we take pride in the fact that while many join (well, 27 so far) few ever leave.

We produce: road.cc; off.road.cc; and ebiketips.road.cc.

Our HQ is in Bath, but our team is spread right across the country – we embraced remote working right from the start, seemed like the obvious thing to do for a digital media company.
