Calling all superstar reporters!
We’ve had an incredible 12 months of growth at AltFi, and now we’re looking for a Reporter/Senior Reporter to help grow our coverage of fintech, digital banking and alternative finance.
Our ideal candidate might be a junior-mid experienced business or city reporter, or someone looking to specialise in covering the fintech sector, but most important is that they have a grasp of the basics of both news and feature-writing with 2-4 years’ experience as a journalist.
Successful applicants will be able to show their proven experience in journalism and enthusiasm as a first-rate reporter.
We’re after someone with an interest in our changing relationship with money—think mobile banks like Monzo and Revolut, free share trading apps like Freetrade, and the world of alternative finance where Funding Circle and Moneybox are building new opportunities for investors.
AltFi runs an entrepreneurial newsroom in the heart of London, so the dream candidate would turn up each day with their own ideas to bring to the table, whether for stories, features, podcasts, newsletters, even events.
We’re looking for someone keen to build their own network of contacts and sources in the sectors we cover, and build a reputation for themselves, getting to know the companies and people who are leading the financial revolution, and telling their stories.
Journalism training or media law training is a plus, but not essential.
Stuff you’ll get to do:
- Identify and write daily news stories
- Work on weekly features, reviews and analysis
- Publish an occasional opinion piece on topics you’re passionate about
- Develop a network of contacts among the fintech, digital banking and alternative finance communities in London and across Europe
Stuff we’ll do for you:
- Work on your editorial training and support your career advancement
- Offer international travel opportunities
- Give you the chance to work at a leading news title in a fast-growing industry
- Pay a competitive salary and offer career development opportunities
- Offer a flexible work environment with the ability to work from home
- Cycle to work scheme and company pensions
Stuff you’ll need to bring:
- A passion and enthusiasm for all things technology and finance
- An ambition to learn and develop as a journalist
- An entrepreneurial attitude
- Your game face (optional)
Our interview process for shortlisted candidates will involve an in-person interview and a paid trial shift.
