Job Description:

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an autos and general corporate reporter based in Tokyo.

You will:

  • Cover the major Japanese auto makers including Toyota, Honda and Nissan, especially Japan-based executives and the decisions about strategy and auto tech made in the country.
  • Work closely with the global auto team and, as needed, assist reporters in the U.S., China and Europe on global stories.
  • Be ready to dive in on other corporate and markets stories in Japan and the broader region when issues arise such as the recent supply-chain bottlenecks.


You have:

 

  • Experience and interest in covering corporate news, including the ability to source up quickly and break news.
  • Ability to learn unfamiliar subjects quickly.
  • Collegiality and readiness to work with colleagues on joint projects.
  • Preferably fluency in spoken and written Japanese.
