Purpose of role: We have a rare opportunity for a Consumer News Editor to join our Consumer and News teams. 

Key accountabilities:

  • Writing exclusive consumer news stories for print
  • A hunger to beat rivals day in day out, whether reporting on the cost of living crisis or latest innovation in consumer products.
  • Generating agenda-leading exclusives, campaigns and investigations
  • A good eye for a story and angle to major consumer events

 

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Strong news reporting or consumer background, with a contact book to back it up
  • An understanding of online breaking news and a willingness to work with the consumer and news team to be first to every story
  • Experience of journalism at a national publisher
  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to deliver vibrant and clean copy to very tight deadlines
  • Can demonstrate and understanding of The Sun brand
  • Knowledge of social media, SEO and online publishing
  • Enthusiasm, imagination and a notebook full of ideas are all essential
  • Positive attitude and good team player
  • Being a self-starter is key – and you will need to thrive under the pressure of a busy newsroom
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the IPSO Code of Conduct, media law and ethical considerations
