Job Description:
The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones Newswires seek a research analyst to join a department specializing in impact investing, ESG analysis and sustainability objectives.
This role requires superior writing skills and the ability to explain complex
concepts for both investor and executive audiences. This is a job for someone who can communicate clearly to internal and external audiences with varying levels of sophistication and knowledge about purpose-driven investing objectives.
The right candidate will be able to interpret news events through a sustainability lens and identify the future impact of corporate actions across industries, sectors, supply chains and product lines. We are looking for a data-driven analyst who stays on top of industry trends and possesses a comprehensive understanding of how investors can align their portfolios with
their values. Experience integrating ESG factors into the fundamental investment decision-making process is required, along with knowledge of how these factors are being used by institutional investors and retail investors alike.
This role is based in Barcelona and will report to the head of professional news.
Key duties:
-Full analytical ESG responsibility of a given portfolio and/or industry
-Lead thematic research to examine and detect emerging social and environmental trends at industry/regional level
-Co-development of ESG derived products
-Train and mentor junior team analysts
-Develop and maintain relationships with investor relations and management of companies, issuers and asset owners under coverage
-Keep abreast of related news flow to identify opportunities for special reports and updates as needed based on implications of news/industry developments
Required experience and skills:
-At least 3-5 years of relevant experience at a financial institution (buy-side, sell-side, investment consultancy, ESG research house)
-Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Statistics/Math, Economics or related field of study
-Passion for sustainable investing
-Completion of one or more professional designation
-Outstanding financial modeling and analytical skills, writing, client communications, and presentation delivery
