 Senior Consumer Reporter

The Team: The Sun Online is the biggest mobile news brand in the UK - and still growing! - talented team who publish the best coverage of news, sport, TV and showbiz, lifestyle and family value.

Your role: We are looking for a senior consumer reporter to join our award-winning Consumer team as it continues to expand. The newly created role will cover a wide range of money and personal finance topics, from the cost of living crisis to campaigns or how law changes affect readers. 

We need a talented, committed journalist to become a key member of this team.

Day to day you will:

  • Have a hunger to beat our rivals day in day out, by breaking news and writing exclusive news stories and features online and in print 

  • Bring bags of ideas and have the ability to generate exclusives from your own sources and contacts 

  • Write brilliant headlines and copy at speed in the famous Sun style 

  • Work with the audience, video and picture desk to produce brilliant stories 

  • Work as part of a team and adapt to finding new ways to tell stories 

What we're looking for from you:

  • Online or print reporting experience in a newsroom 

  • Experience using Wordpress or  similar CMS system to build content digitally 

  • Excellent writing skills with the ability to write clean copy to tight deadlines 

  • A passion for The Sun and understanding of the brand in print and online 

  • Being a self-starter is key – and you will need to thrive under the pressure of a busy newsroom

  • Enthusiasm, imagination and a notebook full of ideas are all essential

  • Unflappable under pressure and delivers work at a consistently high standard

  • Positive attitude and good team player

  • Experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams

  • Have a thorough knowledge of the IPSO Code of Conduct, media law and ethical considerations

  • Experience as a reporter or journalist
