JOB DESCRIPTION

At Hearst UK, there’s always more to the story. Join us as our Senior Staff Writer to start the next chapter in your career.

We’re the UK’s leading premium publisher, and the people behind iconic media brands such as Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Country Living. We’ve created a working environment that encourages everyone to pull together. We never stop looking for brave new ideas. We’ll always try to develop and improve, we trust each other to do our best, and we have fun as we build on our heritage to make history.

This is a demanding role for an exceptionally talented writer who already has a deep engagement with and an encyclopaedic knowledge of the arts, culture, and entertainment, as well as a proven track record of delivering brilliant, witty, erudite, SEO optimised copy, to deadline, for prestigious, upmarket publications.

The successful candidate will arrive with a bulging contacts book and a fountain of ideas on how to inform and entertain Esquire readers on all matters related to pop culture, TV, film, music, books and the visual arts, working under the Deputy Editor and the Executive Digital Editor, and reporting to the Editor in Chief.

The candidate will be skilled and experienced in writing news reports, reviews and round-ups, conducting interviews and editing copy as well contributing to the running of esquire.com / uk’s social media accounts. This is a key role that will contribute to all sections of the print magazine, writing on style, fashion and grooming, whilst helping to grow editorial relationships across men’s culture and entertainment.

At Hearst UK, you can choose from a huge range of perks and benefits that can help you learn well, work well and live well including:

  • 25 days’ holiday (with the option to buy up to 5 additional holiday days) – pro rated for part-time or fixed-term employees
