Deputy Diary Editor – The Mail on Sunday

Location: The Mail on Sunday Headquarters – London
Position: Permanent 

Job Introduction

The Mail on Sunday is seeking a Deputy Diary Editor for the weekly Talk of the Town column. 

The successful candidate will have a keen eye for stories as well as an ability to write quickly and with flair.  They will have an interest in society news, royals, and an enthusiasm for attending showbiz events and evening parties. Occasionally they will be required to stand in as the column’s editor. 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Help with organising, sourcing and attending events
  • Make and maintain great contacts to produce exclusive Diary stories
  • Write crisp stories for the weekly column

Person Specification

  • NCTJ or similar qualification 
  • At least two years’ experience as a reporter  
  • The ability to turn around quick, accurate copy 
  • The ability to quickly strike a rapport with people, in person and on the phone 
  • A sharp eye for a story

Emily Prescott's Talk of the Town column produces exclusive stories every week with eye-catching pictures to accompany them. The Diary team has its finger on the pulse of the society scene and brings in stories from the movers and shakers making waves at events in London and beyond.
