Job Summary

The National Lottery Heritage Fund

Leading, Inspiring and Resourcing the UK’s Heritage

The National Lottery Heritage Fund is the largest funder of the UK’s heritage. The projects we fund create lasting and positive change for people and communities and we believe that heritage has a crucial role to play in contributing to a more equal society.

We are currently recruiting for a full time, permanent Senior Content Designer, based in any of our UK offices, except London.

The Senior Content Designer creates engaging and audience-focused content for the Heritage Fund website, intranet and other digital channels.

An excellent communicator, you will have extensive experience writing for a range of audiences and purposes. You will plan, create, edit and upload news, stories, blogs, features and videos, as well as essential information and guidance for our applicants and grantees.

You will be part of the Marketing & Communications team. We drive awareness and champion the value of the UK’s heritage whilst demonstrating the transformative effect of National Lottery funding.

From one day to the next you might be writing a news story about a project to save a species, editing a blog by the CEO, helping a subject expert to write clear and accessible funding guidance or interviewing someone whose life has been changed thanks to National Lottery funding.

You will ensure a strategic approach to content, meeting the team’s aims and objectives. You will be confident leading content projects and acting as communications lead on different campaigns and activations, including working with external partners and experts. You will frequently collaborate with other members of the Marketing & Communications team and colleagues from different departments across the organisation.

User-centred design principles are at the heart of this role, so a detailed understanding of analytics and how these can be used to improve the user experience is essential. You will deliver effective evaluation of our communications output and plough this learning back into planning new content.

The Senior Content Designer supports the maintenance and development of our websites and digital channels, offering support and technical expertise. You will ensure the website is compliant in respect of accessibility and retains the Shaw Trust accreditation. You will also be an evangelist for our style guide and ensure that all content produced for our digital channels follows it.

We are particularly keen to hear from candidates who can also demonstrate skills in video content creation.

This role has line management responsibility for at least one member of staff (Content Designer) and supports their development.

In return, you’ll be working for the leading and only UK-wide dedicated funder of heritage. Our vision is to inspire, lead and resource the UK’s heritage to create positive and lasting change for people and communities, now and in the future.

Inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We’re committed to building a valued and diverse community of staff, reflective of the diversity of the UK public and the communities we work within.

If you think you have the skills, drive and creativity to be our next Senior Content Designer, we want to hear from you.

  • Applications close at midnight on 5 June 2022
  • Interviews are expected to take place on 15/16 June 2022

The National Lottery Heritage Fund pledges to provide an inclusive working and learning environment for our people which prioritises fairness, equality, diversity and inclusion as well as dignity and respect for all. We will create a workspace where intimidation, discrimination, harassment, bullying and victimisation are not tolerated and actively prevented and opposed.
