Can you turn an 800-word text story into a 100-word video script? Are you able to pick the best 30-second soundbite from an hour-long news conference? Do you instinctively spot the one visual moment of the day that will be shared on social? If yes, then Reuters has the perfect opportunity for you.

We’re looking for freelance digital producers with excellent video editing skills and experience creating multimedia content for online and social platforms. You will be scripting and editing short videos, using content gathered by our global news teams, for Reuters digital clients and for our own platforms.

We’d be particularly interested to hear from people with an interest and experience in covering business and market news.

We currently work a hybrid pattern split between our office in Canary Wharf and from home. This role also includes some weekend working. You will be paid a fixed daily rate for a standard 8-hour shift after completing a weekly timesheet.

As a freelance digital producer, you will:

• Script, voice and edit video content under supervision of team leader
• Be able to write to pictures, choose the best soundbite and think creatively
• Ensure your work is accurate, timely and impartial
• Come up with story and content treatment ideas that suit digital platforms
• Work as part of the global packaged video production team

You should apply if you have: 

• A good working knowledge of global and business news
• Experience of working in a digital newsroom or production unit
• Strong video editing skills, preferably Adobe Premiere
• A clear understanding of the different demands of digital audiences
• Excellent written and spoken English
