AUDIENCE ANALYST

The Sun Online is looking for an Audience Analyst to work in our fast-paced newsroom and provide support to the Audience department, journalists and editors - from day to day guidance to longer term insight. Reporting to the Deputy Head of Audience, you will extract insight from data using various analytics tools and present it in a clear, more consumable way.

Our hugely successful, award-winning Audience Development team sits at the core of our publishing operation and is constantly evolving, growing new audiences, and building engagement and loyalty with our readers.

Day to day you will:

  • Monitor and analyse our organic traffic on a daily and weekly basis

  • Provide insight and make recommendations to our newsroom in order to grow our audience

  • Provide detailed longer-term analysis and insight for the Audience department, individual section heads (such as news or showbiz editors) and product managers to build both our editorial strategy and our technical roadmap

  • Proactively analyse our traffic, and make data-led recommendations

  • Work in both The Sun’s Audience department but also with News UK’s central analytics team

  • Decide what tools we should use to maximise our understanding of our traffic

What we are looking for from you:

  • Experience with web and SEO analytics tools

  • Knowledge of Google Data Studio and other data visualisation tools such as Tableau

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience of working with large data sets

  • Ability to work in a fast-based news environment while also running longer-term projects

  • A confident understanding of the role of analytics within the media sector

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and oral, with the ability to translate data effectively for those who are not familiar with it

  • Confidence in delivering and presenting actionable insights and analysis to stakeholders

  • A logical approach and problem solving skills, with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions from disparate and incomplete sources

  • Understanding of complex business questions and be able to frame the right analytical questions

This experience would be beneficial, however we welcome applications from graduates who we can provide training for.
