Job Introduction

i is appointing a PA to the Editor-in-Chief who will also provide administrative support to senior editorial executives, ensuring the smooth running of i's day-to-day editorial operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who has previous PA or newsroom experience and is looking to expand their skillset in a multi-platform news operation, during an exciting period of growth.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist with editorial administration, providing support to the Editor-in-Chief and other parts of the newsroom to ensure the smooth running of i’s expanding editorial operation.
  • Manage diaries and organise meetings and appointments.
  • Act as a first point of contact for the Editor-in-Chief, dealing with correspondence and fielding phone calls.
  • Assist the Managing Editor’s office with some staff recruitment, induction of new hires, reader correspondence, processing payments and rota
  • Ensure filing systems are kept up to date
  • Liaison with other non-editorial departments, such as IT and HR

Person Specification

Experience of working in an administrative capacity, preferably in a newsroom environment. 
Outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to remain calm in a busy environment, plus a self-starter attitude. 
Ability to multi-task and to prioritise work and adhere to deadlines.
Personable team player with a positive approach to tasks.
Competent in using all Microsoft packages, particularly Excel.
