Job Description:
Barron's is seeking a high-level, step-back thinker who has the reporting and writing chops to deliver sophisticated enterprise and analysis that illuminate the forces driving the U.S. financial markets.
This journalist should be able to weigh into the news with analysis and insight while also developing exclusive stories that can be found at no other business publication. Some of these stories may deliver a head-turning insight that defines a big moment in the financial news. In other cases, this writer may pull together an investigative or compelling enterprise piece based on sources and deep reporting.
For 100 years, Barron's has been a leader in providing smart, impactful analysis about the markets and has long had a history of breaking major news stories. Barron's raised questions about Bernie Madoff more than seven years before the enormous Ponzi scheme came to light, and showed how vulnerable the mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were years before their government takeover in the financial crisis. We are seeking a journalist who has ambitions to uncover similarly impactful stories.
Candidates should have a deep knowledge of finance and have demonstrated an ability to develop sources, use records and data, break news, and write with skill and insight. We are also looking for a strong ability to generate ideas and a familiarity with storytelling techniques, both for a print magazine and digital platforms.
The reporter will need to be resourceful and a self-starter - and work collaboratively with other reporters, editors, and art directors on the Barron's team.
Interested parties should send a resume and cover letter to David.Cho@barrons.com and Bob.Rose@barrons.com and apply through the link on this job posting.
