Senior Writer - Fabulous

About Fabulous

Fabulous is the leading women's lifestyle brand in the UK, a 360 award-winning multi platform product which includes: a weekly magazine which goes out with The Sun on Sunday, a daily print section in The Sun - the most popular newsbrand in the UK, reaching 38.2 million people a month across digital and print - plus an array of digital and social media channels.

About the role

You will work closely with teams across all of our platforms and your day-to-day role will be focused on our magazine product. You will generate and bring in original ideas for our magazine’s features pages, which include news reports, case study-based line ups, feature spreads, real life, opinion pieces, plus commercial content. Your stories will not only work brilliantly across our magazine pages but drive traffic online. You will also commission and edit content as required, build and maintain relationships with freelance writers, news agencies, press offices and PRs - and work closely with our art, picture and subbing teams to ensure features are always executed to Fabulous’ high production standards. You will report to our Contributing Editor and step up in their absence, running the busy features desk and taking conferences when needed.

What we're looking for from you

  • Enthusiasm, a can-do attitude and most importantly, a passion for the Fabulous brand and the issues which affect its readers.

  • Demonstrable experience of working for a national newspaper and / or magazine.

  • An understanding of what types of content work well in print, online and on social media.

  • Knowledge of current affairs and top trends (including everything from politics to podcasts).

  • Thorough knowledge of the IPSO Code of Conduct and Media Law.

  • Experience of working for or closely with multidisciplinary teams.

  • The ability to work calmly and quickly under pressure.

  • Excellent writing, editing and commissioning skills.

  • Good news sense and nose for a story.

  • A wide range of contacts.
