Commissioning Editor - 6 month FTC - Runner's World

LONDON, United Kingdom

At Hearst UK, there’s always more to the story. Join us as our Commissioning Editor to start the next chapter in your career.

We’re the UK’s leading premium publisher, and the people behind iconic media brands such as Cosmopolitan, Esquire, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, Country Living and Runner’s World. We’ve created a working environment that encourages everyone to pull together. We never stop looking for brave new ideas. We’ll always try to develop and improve, we trust each other to do our best, and we have fun as we build on our heritage to make history.

Runner’s World is the UK’s leading running website, magazine and podcast. Our goal is to help runners of all ages and abilities achieve their health, fitness and performance goals with trustworthy, expert advice and inspirational stories, across print and digital.

This is a varied, fast-paced, cross-platform role in the Runner’s World editorial team. You’ll conceive and write stories and features primarily for the website, but also for the magazine – it could be anything from a news story, profile feature, SEO update, e-commerce piece, gear review or round-up. You’ll occasionally be required to commission pieces from external freelance contributors. You’ll work with the Editor-in-Chief, Digital Executive Editor and the rest of the editorial team to generate compelling, innovative and impactful cross-platform content ideas.

You’ll be a driven and hardworking person with a can-do attitude and plenty of initiative. You’ll be passionate about conceiving, researching and writing high-quality content, and have excellent attention to detail. You should have a good understanding of the Runner’s World brand and audience as well as the wider running market. Experience of working in digital media, with an understanding of SEO, analytics and content management systems is desirable.

At Hearst UK, you can choose from a huge range of perks and benefits that can help you learn well, work well and live well including:

  • 25 days’ holiday (with the option to buy up to 5 additional holiday days) – pro rated for part-time or fixed-term employees
  • Hybrid working model – 2 days per week in the office
  • Discounted gym membership
  • Healthcare cash plan
  • Spend a charity day with your favourite good cause
  • Life assurance and pension scheme
  • Regular socials and more!

There’s more to your story than you imagine. And the next chapter begins right here.

Our brilliant employees are what makes Hearst a driving force for innovation.

People join us because they love our brands, but they stay because we are a company that nurtures passion and creativity, all while striving towards a shared goal of excellence and originality.

We are looking to recruit exceptionally talented individuals, who not only have a chance to shape our friendly and creative culture, but work with world-class brands and mould their own careers in a truly unique environment.
