RESEARCHER/WRITER (PRODUCT TESTING) (1351)
London - Hybrid working (1-2 days in the office per week)

Starting Salary: £22,000-£27,000 (depending on level of experience)

We're looking for two Researchers to join our Product Testing team in our London Office.

We've all been in the situation where we've invested time and money into purchasing a product only to be let down. That's where Which? steps in. We rigorously test the products and services you need so that we can tell you which you should choose - and which you should avoid.

Our 800,000+ subscribers depend on us. And so we need you to give them the unbiased information they expect so that they can choose the right products the first time.

What you'll be doing:

These unique roles require someone who can organise top quality product research, can get to grips with the results and can then turn them into engaging print and online content.

The successful candidates will be responsible for project managing a number of different test areas. You'll also design and commission robust research with external laboratories for a range of consumer products and may at times perform your own hands-on assessments.

This means that you'll need to be switched on and will really understand what consumers want to know - for example, will the battery in that new mobile phone last through the day or will the latest washing machine really get my clothes clean at 30C? You'll deliver the research that tells people what they need to know and truly affects what they buy.

You'll have an eye for a great story. Working with technical data you'll draw out what the information is saying and what consumers would be interested in. You will then use your exceptional writing skills to deliver content for our flagship magazine, Which?, and our website which.co.uk, including features, product reviews and news stories. You'll also get the chance to create a range of related website content, including photo galleries, graphics and videos.

What we are looking for

  • You'll have excellent project management and delivery skills that enable you to run multiple projects at the same time and to produce articles to tight deadlines.
  • You'll have an understanding of different research techniques. And while you may not have conducted product tests in the past, your experience will help you to plan/commission research that will tell consumers what they need to know.
  • You'll need excellent writing skills and a talent for turning complex information into clear, accessible language that's enjoyable to read.
  • You'll be comfortable interpreting and working with complex large data sets in Excel.

About the rewards?

You get a competitive salary, 28 days' holiday, contributory pension, life assurance, private medical cover, health insurance, full Which? membership for free, 50% off making a will with Which? Wills.

About the Which? way of life?

We want you to do great work and enjoy it in a workplace that respects and empowers you. We've signed up to the Time to Change employer pledge that protects staff against mental health discrimination. We're also a Stonewall accredited employer.

If this sounds like your ideal next role, then we want to hear from you! Let us know what makes you stand out from the crowd by sending us a covering letter and your CV.

Deadline: Sunday 17th July 2022
