The Handbook is looking for an experienced, directional Digital Editor to strategically lead all aspects of content output across the platform. 

One of the UK's leading luxury digital destinations, The Handbook reaches 643k monthly unique users and 145k daily newsletter subscribers with content covering everything from the latest in fashion, beauty and interiors to new openings, travel guides and culture. 

The ideal candidate will oversee the editorial team, contributing freelancers and work in synergy with both the commercial and design teams to deliver daily features and the daily newsletter, including advertorial, SEO-driven content, reviews, interviews and e-commerce-driven shopping galleries. 

This role represents a brilliant opportunity to take a rapidly growing editorial platform to the next level with innovative, forward-thinking and brave new ideas. A confident individual with strategic vision, exceptional creative eye and unrivalled understanding of the digital consumer is essential. 

The candidate should be looking to lead, inspire and energise a passionate team and have at least five years experience in an online editor or deputy editor role within the Fashion or Beauty sectors, 

Core Responsibilities

  • Act as a voice and vision for the brand
  • Deliver exceptional content that reflects the brand’s editorial identity
  • Confidently lead regular editorial ideas and planning meetings
  • Constant review, assessment and fine-tuning of The Handbook product 
  • Manage editorial calendar and balance content across verticals
  • Overseeing daily content and imagery across all channels 
  • Work closely with the Managing Director to optimise the editorial and commercial content delivery across the website, newsletter and socials
  • Creatively strategise authentic and engaging content opportunities to support commercial partnership needs
  • Oversee team delivery of all creative advertorial content 
  • Work collaboratively with the Commercial Director to fulfil all partnership deliverables
  • Effective and inspiring team management
  • Efficient running of editorial team, managing deliverables and deadlines
  • Management of all freelance/contributor commissions and content 
  • Contribute regular written content 
  • Identify and deliver expert/influencer interview subjects to drive platform WOM and awareness
  • Diversifying content formats and incorporating video content across relevant platforms 
  • Analyse site traffic and engagement to maximise The Handbook product in line with audience appeal
  • Cohesive and proactive inputs into brand social media content strategy and implementation
  • Staying abreast of trending topics and trends relevant to or viable for The Handbook channels
  • Providing regular competitor analysis to ensure The Handbook is positioned at the forefront of the industry 
  • Representing The Handbook at industry events

Requirements

  • 5 years experience in an online editor or deputy editor role 
  • Established tenure within the Fashion & Beauty sector
  • Digitally minded
  • Network of industry contacts including influencers, PR agencies and brands
  • Talented writer 
  • Exceptional creative ideas
  • Confident and collaborative leader
  • Excellent communication
  • Impeccable eye/taste for product edits and imagery  
  • High attention to detail
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Proven understanding of SEO strategy 
  • Skilled at delivering outstanding advertorial content 
  • Understanding of brand social media strategy
