Position

Food Manufacture is a market leading B2B brand – spanning FoodManufacture.co.uk, a series of high-profile face-to-face and digital events, plus social media channels – covering Britain’s biggest manufacturing sector.

From breaking news about Britain’s biggest food and drink manufacturers to our multimedia coverage of business, food science and politics, if it matters to food and drink manufacturers, we report it. From the implications of the sugar tax to food and drink exports, Brexit and geopolitical developments, food manufacturing is increasingly at the heart of national life.

The Editor is responsible for delivering content via foodmanufacture.co.uk and its virtual and face to face events, to best serve the UK food and drink manufacturing industry.

Requirements


CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Content & Management

  • Plan, manage and deliver high-value daily news content.
  • Recruit speakers and set the agenda across webinars and events.
  • Develop new content plans to engage with our key communities
  • Develop feature plans and webinar schedules to aid the commercial teams and engage with audiences
  • Manage and document cost centre for the editorial team
  • Manage allocated special projects to agreed objectives
  • Lead team by example, attending industry events and becoming the face of the brand
  • Develop, coach and mentor team members putting clear KPI’s in place to measure performance and SMART objectives
  • Generate a regular newsletter and social presence to drive more traffic, more frequently to the site

Strategy

  • Develop new content plans to engage with our key communities
  • Work with content teams to support and create commercial opportunities
  • Collaborate with other WRBM brands to support existing and develop new commercial opportunities
  • Innovate content channels to deliver content in a form that the audience want it most
  • Gather market intelligence, communicating this back to the business
  • Contribute to brand extension initiatives including conferences and awards
  • Help to foster a culture of entrepreneurship, integrity and passion building a positive working environment

General

  • Manage time to ensure all management tasks are completed whilst maintaining market visibility
  • Represent allocated brands at industry events
  • Ensure that HR processes such as recruitment, performance management, training and development are carried out in accordance with company policy and best practice.
  • Maintain accurate records ensuring full use of nominated software across the teams.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings internally and externally as required.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • An accomplished B2B online journalist with a track record of success.
  • The ability to deliver top-quality, value-added content to demanding daily deadlines.
  • First-class interviewing, news reporting and editing skills.
  • Well developed organizational and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills.
  • The ability to grasp complex scientific or technical information quickly.
  • The charisma to represent the title to target industries.
  • Web editing, posting and software knowledge.
  • Strong team spirit and the ability to partner others working on joint projects.
  • Good proof-reading skills.
  • An interest in multi-media journalism and ability to acquire expertise in this area quickly.
  • Budgeting skills and the resolution to use them.

You will be required 2 days a week in our head office which is based near Crawley, 30 minutes from Brighton and 10 mins from Gatwick and its connections to Victoria, London Bridge, and the world.
