Farmers Guide, the UK’s leading monthly farming magazine, is looking for a staff writer to join the editorial team.

Working with the department editors, the applicant will be creating trusted and original content for the magazine and digital platforms using a wide range of sources.

Previous editorial experience is essential in helping the successful applicant to understand the voice of the brand, the target audience and political angle.

Agriculture is an exciting and interesting industry, which is facing some big challenges, and we’re here to support and assist UK farmers in feeding the nation. You don’t need to be an expert in farming to work at Farmers Guide as there are plenty of on-the-job experiences throughout the year to learn from, along with a knowledgeable team.

About the magazine

Farmers Guide is sent free directly to farmers and contractors throughout Great Britain and provides extensive news and features coverage of machinery, arable, livestock, trade and business topics for more than 90,000 readers.

The magazine has been produced by a family-run business for more than 42 years and in 2021 celebrated its 500th edition.

The editorial team works closely with the other departments, especially sales, ensuring advertisers are looked after editorially, all the while providing an informative and relevant read for subscribers.

The ideal applicant will have experience with news and feature writing, as well as interviewing via telephone and in person. Excellent English skills are a necessity.

The role will also involve visiting events and clients around the UK, so the ability to drive and stay away overnight when required is essential.

The role is based at the Ipswich office, but remote working would be considered if appropriate.
