Inside Housing, Deputy News Editor

Trade magazine Inside Housing is looking to hire a deputy news editor to join its award-winning editorial team.
 
This is an opportunity for you to develop your reporting, editing and management skills in a fast-paced newsroom. The job will give you the chance to work in one of the most important and busiest fields in journalism, reporting on stories which have a national significance and have a wide-reaching impact. The vacancy will be for a deputy news editor who will deputise for the news editor when not there, and also be one of the team’s chief news reporters delivering regular exclusives. 
 
Reporting will cover a number of areas, along with a range of topics such as homelessness, the ongoing fallout from the Grenfell Tower disaster, the move towards net zero, and government efforts to solve the housing crisis across the UK. 
 
The Inside Housing news team has a strong track record of breaking exclusives that get picked up by nationals, publishing agenda-setting investigations, as well as seeing its reporters regularly recognised at industry awards.
 
You’ll work as part of the reporting team on Inside Housing to deliver exceptional and exclusive stories and information to our readers. Your role will include:
 

• Writing off-diary news stories for the magazine and website
• Regularly contributing ideas and writing features and news analysis
• Carrying out investigations for news and features 
• Contributing to regular podcasts
• Deputising for the news editor once a week and when on leave
• Managing pages within the magazine

 
The job is the ideal opportunity for someone with experience as a news reporter and a track record of breaking exclusive stories, who is now looking to expand their career by getting regular editing experience.
