About the Role

Responsibility for assisting the Global Health Security Editor (GHS) run and managing The Telegraph's GHS team. The role is full-time and involves planning, commissioning and writing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for assisting the editor to create, plan and execute daily GHS coverage.
  • Liaising with GHS and other specialist journalists and reporters to identify and develop stories and plan coverage.
  • Liaising with other departments: video, SEO, data, graphics, and social to ensure the best possible production and promotion of GHS content.
  • Writing GHS news and features where required.
  • Deputising for the GHS editor in their absence.

Skills required for the role

  • A thorough and demonstrable understanding of evidence-based health and its reporting.
  • A solid understanding of global development and health security issues.
  • A proven ability to seek out exclusive and breaking stories.
  • Experience of planning coverage for a busy news desk, working to tight deadlines and managing others.
  • Ability to write and edit articles clearly, concisely and with flare.
  • Familiarity with digital storytelling techniques.
