IOM3, a leading membership Institute for the materials, minerals and mining communities in the UK and overseas is recruiting a new News & Digital Editor to join our Materials World Team.

The ideal candidate will fulfil a key and varied role in the editorial team working on our printed member magazines Materials World and Clay Technology. They will oversee the planning, development and execution of the news and professional development sections with support from and in collaboration with the Staff Writer. Working as part of our wider content team the News & Digital Editor will be able balance a breadth of stories across different technical disciplines to engage our readership. The candidate will also work closely with the Staff Writer to develop their writing and reporting skills and plan workload with oversight from the Editor, so an interest in developing coaching and management skills is important.

Digitally this role will contribute to the daily rota of digital news and oversee it to ensure balanced coverage. They will also have overall responsibility for the post-production upload of print articles to the website for each issue of the magazine and manage the social media accounts.

The role provides an opportunity to flex your writing skills on long-form articles. The news section includes special reports and event write-ups, and all team members can also contribute to features and profile pieces, as well as being required to host and occasionally edit podcasts for IOM3 investigates...

IOM3 has an excellent benefits package, including life assurance and generous holiday entitlement with flexible hybrid working from our London office approx. 2 days per week. Events attendance maybe required.

The ideal candidate will have an excellent command of English with proven, writing, editorial and proofreading skills. The ability to work to tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail along with experience of InDesign are key. Ability to cultivate relationships and feeling confident with technical or scientific content would be advantageous.
