IOM3, a leading membership Institute for the materials, minerals and mining communities in the UK and overseas is recruiting a new Deputy & Commissioning Editor to join our Materials World Magazine team.

The Deputy & Commissioning Editor will fulfil a key role in the editorial team by organising and commissioning the features sections for the printed member magazines Materials World and Clay Technology. This is an important position within the wider content team at IOM3 with the incumbent representing the magazine and IOM3 when building relationships with the Institute’s technical groups, wider membership and other expert contributors.

This role also provides the opportunity to flex your writing skills by contributing to the daily rota of digital news, as well as pitching and developing ideas for other long-form articles, such as features, profiles and special reports, as well as contributing to the Institute’s podcast IOM3 Investigates...

IOM3 has an excellent benefits package, including life assurance and generous holiday entitlement with flexible hybrid working from our London office approx. 2 days per week. Events attendance maybe required.

The ideal candidate will have an excellent command of English with proven, writing, editorial and proofreading skills. The ability to work to tight deadlines with excellent attention to detail along with experience of InDesign are key. Ability to cultivate relationships and feeling confident with technical or scientific content would be advantageous.
