This is a full-time role working across Good Housekeeping, Red and Prima on the Lifestyle Hub.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You’ll be joining a team of sub-editors working on editorial print content for three leading lifestyle titles, helping to ensure all content is of the highest quality and reflects the brands’ core values.
Key responsibilities include:
- Sub-editing and second reading pages to a consistently high standard across the three titles, including meticulously checking facts, spelling, grammar and punctuation
- Upholding each title’s house style and unique tone
- Rewriting copy where necessary to improve the flow, questioning what is missing or seems incorrect and filling in the ‘gaps’ to improve clarity for the reader
- Taking in corrections from departments and editors, and liaising with them on copy approval and legal checks
- Proofreading and signing off pages for press
- Supporting the chief subs, deputies and senior sub with moving pages through the production process
- Liaising with Marketing, Subscriptions and Digital departments and Commercial partners on relevant pages
- Being an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values
ABOUT YOU
- Sub-editing experience, preferably on a consumer title
- Good knowledge of InDesign and CMS (Censhare a plus)
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Organised and methodical
- Aware of deadlines and able to juggle tasks and prioritise layouts accordingly
- A team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to use and act on your own initiative
- Calm under pressure
