At Hearst UK, there’s always more to the story. Join us as a Sub-Editor to start the next chapter in your career.

We’re the UK’s leading premium publisher, and the people behind iconic media brands such as Good Housekeeping, CosmopolitanEsquireELLE and Country Living. We’ve created a working environment that encourages everyone to pull together. We never stop looking for brave new ideas. This is a full-time role working across Good HousekeepingRed and Prima on the Lifestyle Hub.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Key responsibilities include:

  • Sub-editing and second reading pages to a consistently high standard across the three titles, including meticulously checking facts, spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Upholding each title’s house style and unique tone
  • Rewriting copy where necessary to improve the flow, questioning what is missing or seems incorrect and filling in the ‘gaps’ to improve clarity for the reader
  • Taking in corrections from departments and editors, and liaising with them on copy approval and legal checks
  • Proofreading and signing off pages for press
  • Supporting the chief subs, deputies and senior sub with moving pages through the production process
  • Liaising with Marketing, Subscriptions and Digital departments and Commercial partners on relevant pages
  • Being an ambassador of Hearst UK and its values

  • Able to use and act on your own initiative
  • Calm under pressure
