Job Details

We are looking for a news editor to drive the political news agenda for two leading B2B healthcare publications.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled news editor - or a senior reporter looking to step up - to lead a team in shaping the, mostly digital, news content for nursing and pharmacist audiences.

Working alongside the editor and managing two reporters, you will be producing top-quality news stories, exclusives, investigations, plus ideas for campaigns and analysis that engage the publications’ target audiences.

Nursing in Practice is a leading publication for nurses in general practice and community nursing, with impactful political and professional news delivered via its website, alongside clinical content. It also has a quarterly print magazine.

The Pharmacist is a news-driven digital title supporting the vital sector of community pharmacists and the growing number of pharmacists working in general practice.

These are both rewarding and lively sectors to work in. We have the healthcare experience to share with you, if you don’t have that yet.

You will be working within a wider editorial team which includes a range of publications for a wide range of healthcare audiences, including the award-winning title Pulse, for GPs.

This is a hybrid role, working one day or more a week at our offices in Farringdon in the City of London, in an experienced and supportive team.

Responsibilities

  • Driving the news agenda for the two publications, including identifying potential exclusives
  • Managing two reporters and editing content
  • Writing own news and analysis when there is opportunity
  • Managing a range of email newsletters which are sent out daily to the audiences
  • Planning content for the news sections of the Nursing in Practice print publication
  • Building contacts within the sector and attending conferences and events

Key skills

  • Completed a journalism course or masters
  • Previous experience as a news editor, or a senior reporter looking for their next step
  • Previous line management experience

Our benefits include:

  1. 23 days annual leave
  2. Birthday off
  3. 4 days additional leave during Company closure at Christmas
  4. 2 days additional leave on completion of two years employment
  5. Option to roll over and/or purchase additional annual leave
  6. Private Healthcare Insurance including dental
  7. Flexible working policy
  8. Hybrid working
  9. Season Ticket Loan
  10. Cycle to Work scheme
  11. 6 weeks full pay for maternity leave and 2 weeks full pay for paternity leave.
  12. Volunteering/Charity Days & Fundraising contributions
  13. Office Equipment Allowance for WFH
  14. Pension Scheme
  15. Eyecare Vouchers

We are looking to complete our team as soon as possible, so please send a CV, cover letter and examples of published work to our editor Carolyn Scott as soon as possible.

Please note that due to the expected high numbers of applications, we are able to only contact successful candidates. Also, whilst there is no application deadline for this role, interviews will be arranged as and when suitable candidates apply and we reserve the right to close applications at any time once a successful candidate has been selected.
