We are looking for experienced reporters to join our newly-established newsroom in central London.
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to be part of building something new, as we expand our highly successful model of journalism, rooted in ‘truth and tradition’, to British readers.
About Us
The Epoch Times is an international outlet grounded in tradition, providing daily comprehensive news coverage. It was established in America in 2000 by Chinese journalists resisting communist oppression and later expanded to 21 languages with bureaus around the world.
Before ‘cancel culture’ and ‘fake news’ were coined in the West, our Chinese-American founders were only too familiar with media manipulation, censorship, and ideological infiltration. So when the recent news storms hit—Trump, the pandemic, lockdowns, cancel culture, online censorship, the influence of radical ideologies, and so on—our ability to guide readers through the chaos was already hard-wired into our journalism.
Our English edition is now a household name across America, where we are the fastest-growing media outlet, with a rapidly expanding print and digital subscriber base, and a growing force in Canada, Australia and Britain.
Key Responsibilities:
As a reporter, you will pitch, break, and cover compelling news stories for our rapidly-growing British readership and subscribers.
- Discover, pitch, and craft stories of national relevance.
- Develop and curate a diverse portfolio of mid-range and long-length articles.
- Cover breaking news and contribute to assigned stories.
- Specialise in specific beats as directed.
- Conduct on-the-ground reporting and interviews, attending events as required.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Substantial professional experience as a full-time press reporter in print or online.
- A proven record of being able to produce well-written, accurate stories to deadline.
- A proven record of tracking down original stories and finding fresh angles.
- An NCTJ qualification or equivalent, or proven substantial experience as a senior reporter.
- A solid grasp of news and current affairs in the UK.
Above all, we seek journalists who genuinely align with our guiding principles of truth and tradition, and our core values.
