Newsweek is seeking Newsweek is seeking a full-time Pop Culture & Entertainment reporter to join our London team.
The ideal candidate will have detailed knowledge of all aspects of U.S. popular culture, including movies, TV, music, and internet trends.
The Pop Culture & Entertainment Reporter will be able to research, source, pitch, and write several stories each day, including breaking news, original news and features, interviews, and exclusives. They will obtain source and expert comments, and use authoritative primary sources. They will produce vibrant, concise, and clean copy to deadline.
They will have in-depth knowledge of the most engaging individuals online, from Hollywood celebrities to influential YouTubers and social media stars. They will have a strong understanding of digital journalism and the needs of a fast-paced newsroom. They will be adept at monitoring social media to find and identify stories and topics of interest to a U.S. audience.
Topics expected to be covered include, but are not limited to: Movie and television shows and industry news; celebrity lifestyle and news; celebrity court cases; social and alternative media stars and influencers; music celebrity and industry news.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-quality coverage that is accurate, fair, and conforms to accepted standards of journalism.
You can work from home anywhere in England or from our office in London Canary Wharf. Normal working hours are 8am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:
- Research, source, pitch, and write several Entertainment stories each day, including original features and interviews.
- Conduct interviews and forward-plan for events.
- Maintain relationships with entertainment industry contacts to secure exclusive interviews and breaking news.
- Scour social media and other news gathering tools to find stories and emerging trends.
- Check facts and sources and ensure content is of the highest possible standard.
- Work with editors to ensure your work meets house style.
- Ensure Newsweek delivers high-quality reporting that is accurate, fair, and conforms to accepted standards of journalism.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as necessary to meet the needs of the business.
Requirements:
- Several years of experience in a reporting role for a reputable organization.
- Experience covering American popular culture.
- Familiarity covering U.S. news and trends.
- Familiarity of the biggest influencers on various social media platforms.
- Capable of working to tight deadlines.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
Desirable:
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with industry contacts
