Your mission
This is a rare opportunity to join the iconic HELLO! Brand. We are seeking an experienced and creative Features Editor to join our dynamic editorial team. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for compelling stories, bringing in agenda setting exclusives, a knack for shaping engaging narratives, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
To be eligible for this role, please include the following with your application:
1) A covering Letter
2) Three pitches for features worthy of a place in HELLO! Magazine’s print publication, but which also have innovative and digital first elements that will make us stand out from the competition. For each pitch, explain why you think the idea works for HELLO! and explain how you would tell your story in a cross-platform way. Feel free to include digital cover ideas, social media story-telling, video concepts and to include a description of how the feature would look visually, as well as how the story would be told.
Applications not including these tasks will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Use cross-platform workflow tools including and not limited to Slack, Trello
and Lucid Link
- Commission features across the HELLO! content hubs
- Ensure strict deadlines are met, generate weekly features ideas to ensure print issues are impactful, informative, engaging and commercially appealing
- Work with art and design hubs to ensure optimal layouts for features, both in print and digital format
- Be agile and adaptable and have a passion for news, entertainment, royal and society stories and a sharp news sense
- Have a keen eye for a headline and an exclusive which our HELLO! audience won’t be able to resist
- Have strong writing, editing skills with scrupulous attention to detail and media law
- Attend cover meetings and pitch cover line ideas
Your profile
As a member of HELLO!’s editorial team, you’ll be responsible for creating exclusive, elevated, news agenda-setting and shareable features aimed at HELLO’s engaged audience of discerning readers.
You will have top level contacts with PRs, agents and celebrities who reflect the HELLO! audience both in the UK and US. You will also have an encyclopaedic knowledge of the British royal family and society from front-row fashionistas to the latest young, aristo darlings.
You will be bursting with original ideas which you will develop and pitch, commission and edit. The role will also require you to attend events and contribute to special issues and other sections of the brand as required. You will also write both SEO- driven and social-led content for hellomagazine.com.
You will also work closely with digital and commercial colleagues to ensure all opportunities are executed brand-first. This requires experience and knowledge of working across print and digital products and a strong understanding of data, social media and other digital marketing tools.
You will set up exclusive interviews and shoots and commission content which are relevant for HELLO!, breaking celebrity stories in keeping with our brand ethos to inspire, entertain and educate our audience.
You will also forward plan the feature sections throughout the year, with aspirational and elegant shoots which showcase HELLO’s trustworthy, kind, positive and celebratory voice, featuring the crème de la crème of society and the entertainment world which appeal to our audience and advertisers.
Other key responsibilities will be to work with the team on special issue magazines during the year.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a features or news role, within the media industry.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in digital publishing tools and content management systems.
- A deep understanding of current trends and issues in the media landscape.
Qualifications
Degree level qualifications are desirable but relevant experience is essential.

HELLO! supports hybrid working our Commercial and Print Magazine teams are office based on Tuesday and Wednesday and our Digital team on Wednesday and Thursday.
