Job Introduction
MailOnline, the world's largest English-language newspaper website with over 200million monthly unique visitors globally, is recruiting a talented Deputy Travel Editor to join the London team.
Reporting to the UK Travel Editor and stepping into the role when required, the successful candidate will help support digital growth and will understand the unique demands of digital publishing.
Suitable candidates will be experienced online journalists with an impressive track record of finding and breaking exclusive stories of national and global interest, able to produce strong news articles as well as creative features.
Applicants must be able to deliver vibrant, clean copy to very tight deadlines and must be able to work self-sufficiently and generate their own stories for this office-based digital role.
Responsibilities will also include commissioning and editing, as well as supporting the Travel Editor by looking at new opportunities to grow digital audiences.
Prior experience in national or global online publishing is essential, as is an NCTJ qualification, a good understanding of media law, and a watertight understanding of tourism and transport sectors, trends and consumer issues.
The above list is not exhaustive and constantly evolving, based on the needs of the business. Out-of-hours availability and a high level of adaptability are essential.
This is a fully office based role in our offices in High Street Kensington.
Staff benefits include a 24/7 in-house gym, private healthcare, and many more.
To apply, please enclose a CV and a cover letter, explaining why you're perfect for the role and including three examples of your writing.
A writing test will form part of the application process.
Any applications received without a CV will not be considered.
