SENIOR JOURNALIST/DUTY EDITOR SOUGHT
TVP World, an internationally-focused public television channel based in Warsaw, Poland’s dynamic capital, is seeking a duty editor for its news website.
As many other big media organizations slim down their staff, we’re doing the opposite. Join us if you want to be part of a drive to bring our relaunched English-language website fully in line with Western quality journalism standards.
You’ll have a chance to work on diverse stories, from politics to human interest, potentially across platforms, while earning a wage that’s very competitive for the region.
Expectations
The job will involve editing articles to ensure the highest standards of journalism are met and that our website has a strong balance of stories.
The duty editor will also be required to mentor junior journalists and provide constructive feedback on how to improve their work when needed.
The editor will also take part in editorial meetings and be involved in selecting stories for the website. They will also have to write stories from time to time. The subjects of these pieces could be of their choosing, offering more depth and insight than the general news copy.
Requirements
Ideal applicants should have extensive English-language experience in the print media or news wires. They must understand what makes a good story, how a news story is structured and have the confidence to make heavy edits if required.
Knowledge of Central European politics, history and culture would be a plus.
Our team is based in Warsaw but the possibility of remote and/or part-time work will be considered if requested by an exceptionally strong candidate.
The duty editor will be required to frequently work evening shifts (3pm to 10pm), as well as some shifts on public holidays and weekends.
Why join us
At Poland’s largest TV broadcaster, you’ll have the chance to help shape a fast-expanding news organization covering a region of the world that is increasingly the focus of global attention.
You’ll be joining a team that, apart from junior journalists, includes highly experienced editors with a background in British national newspapers (The Telegraph, The Daily Mail) and international news agencies (AFP, Reuters).
Poland is growing wealthier and expanding its geopolitical clout amid Russia’s war in Ukraine. We’re looking for a professional willing to take on a challenge/adventure and help us document these times of rapid change.
