Executive producer, TikTok
The Times & Sunday Times are looking for an exceptional leader to drive editorial decisions and coverage on our TikTok account.
Reporting to the Director of Video, you will oversee the daily commissioning, scripting of explainers and development of franchises. You will provide your team with guidance on story ideas, ensuring we adhere to the highest editorial standards. You will be an idea generator, constantly pitching content and building networks across the newsroom to bring in stories.
The successful candidate will be skilled at writing and will understand how to craft a script for a TikTok audience whilst maintaining the tone of voice of The Times & Sunday Times. A high-level knowledge of news is essential, along with an ability to provide a unique take on stories in a crowded current affairs landscape.

Responsibilities
- Successfully manage productive relationships with senior editors and journalists across the newsrooms
- Create and manage video content for The Times and Sunday Times on TikTok
- Oversee all aspects of TikTok video production including commissioning, scripting and developing franchises
- Pitch and deliver original TikTok video ideas that demonstrate a strong understanding of The Times and Sunday Times readership and of the users of TikTok
- Manage a team of producers, providing guidance on story ideas, ensuring we adhere to the highest editorial standards
- Ensure consistent quality across all TikTok video output
- Use audience data analysis to help guide ideas and commissioning
- Follow TikTok content trends and understand the brands’ perspectives and how they differ from one another
- Collaborate with colleagues in design, graphics, data and pictures on elements that enhance our TikTok content
Skills and experience
- 3-5 years experience managing a TikTok account, with a specific focus on news
- Excellent writing and editing skills; experience revising scripts and shaping story arcs
- A track record of making exceptional content for TikTok and building a dedicated audience
- A keen eye for series concepts, formats, and talent that will resonate with a TikTok audience
- Experience managing people with the ability to effectively manage a team of producers, ensuring they deliver on deadline
- Experience with project management and overseeing many moving parts, assignments, and deliverables at once
- Ability to maintain the highest journalistic standards with an emphasis on accuracy and responsible editorial practices
- Expert communicator; experience giving direct and constructive feedback
- Strong understanding of the tone of voice on TikTok
- A strong understanding of editorial compliance and regulatory issues
