HPCi Media, Cosmetics Business group - Science Writer

The Cosmetics Business group - comprising Cosmetics Business, the Cosmetics Business Trend Report and Pure Beauty - is looking for a talented Science Writer. 

We are seeking an ambitious individual to cover ingredient, formulation, regulatory and packaging news and features relating to the vibrant cosmetics industry.

You will also be responsible for sending the group’s flagship title Cosmetics Business’ ten print issues per year to press.  

Experience in B2B, business reporting, or writing about the beauty industry is helpful, but not essential.

Applicants will be a vital member of our award-winning team of journalists, developing content for both our digital and print platforms.

This is a great opportunity for a science writer looking to gain a foothold in this exciting, glamorous and fast-paced industry, or for a journalist with a proven history writing for science-focused B2B titles.

Responsibilities

• Pitching and writing short and long-form articles on ingredients trends, formulation advice, regulatory changes and packaging innovations influencing the cosmetics industry
• Commissioning content from a little black book of experts
• Organising the Cosmetics Business flatplan for each issue, and ensuring it is populated with the most relevant, up-to-date content
• Subediting and proofing laid-out pages for Cosmetics Business
• Uploading and publishing content using our bespoke content management system
• Attending industry events and travelling internationally as required for trade events
• When necessary, help manage Cosmetics Business' and Pure Beauty's social media strategy
• When necessary, moderate/host commercial webinars and video products

You must be/have…

• An unflappable, team-player attitude, buzzing with ideas
• Experience either as a science writer, a cosmetic formulator, or as a journalist on a B2B platform in a similar field – eg, lifesciences, medical, etc.
• Be London based, or have easy access to Borough, where our offices are located

Desirables

• Experience using Indesign for layout (preferable, but not essential)
• Up-to-date knowledge of media law
• Knowledge of SEO tactics and social media management
