About the Role

As Editor of The English Home you will work closely with the Publisher and colleagues in the digital, sales, and marketing teams to plan and produce the magazine on time and to budget. The editor upholds editorial standards, thinks strategically and is a strong team player. This is a specialist title with a long-established and loyal readership all over the world, including a significant North American subscriber base. The editor needs to understand, and grow, this very special audience, in print and online. You will be a commercial thinker – with exquisite taste – who can work with Chelsea’s tight-knit team to proactively boost revenue-generating opportunities and explore new ways to engage with readers. At times you may be required to speak at industry events as an ambassador for the brand. 


Essential Skills

  • Experience in a similar role; preferably with a background in interiors/luxury lifestyle.
  • Experience of managing a team, freelancers and designers, providing clear briefs.
  • Confidence to lead, inspire, motivate and empower team members 
  • Pro-active attitude to networking and building relationships with our commercial partners. 
  • Hands-on experience of end-to-end print production and the ability to meet non-negotiable deadlines. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to remain cool under pressure and the agility to change direction when required 
  • Knowledge of image rights and permissions
  • Proficient in digital CMS and InDesign (or similar)


Key Responsibilities

  • Producing 13 UK issues and 6 North American issues a year, plus special projects.
  • Working in close collaboration with the digital content team, you will ensure that every piece of content
  • commissioned can be utilised in a number of ways, to reach as many readers as possible, wherever they may be. 
  • Producing draft advance features lists three months ahead of publication date of issue currently in production, and updating this on a weekly basis.
  • Leading monthly meetings with sales and advertising teams to plan future features.
  • Providing flatplans for the next issue on the day following the press day of the previous issue. Keeping flatplans accurate and up to date 
  • Ensuring the editorial team understands how their work directly contributes to the brand’s growth and success, via mentoring and performance reviews.
