Monocle is looking for an experienced magazine sub-editor for regular freelance shifts.
Monocle is a global briefing on international affairs, business, culture and design, headquartered in London. Monocle¹s 10 issues a year are dense, book-ish and collectable and call on a team of staff editors and correspondents from around the world.
We work to extremely tight deadlines so you should be used to dealing with a heavy workload very quickly without sacrificing accuracy. The ideal candidate will have experience of working on current affairs and/or business titles. Experience on a national newspaper would be preferred.
You'll need in-depth knowledge of InDesign, you'll have a flair for headlines and sells and you'll be a deadly accurate proofreader and fact-checker. You should also demonstrate a thorough understanding of the Monocle brand.
The shifts are on a freelance basis for two weeks of every issue and will involve some late nights and weekend work.
