Chemical Watch is a rapidly growing B2B online news service providing businesses with the information they need to responsibly manage the risks of the chemicals they make, buy, use and sell. Launched just six years ago, the news service is now regarded as an essential read by businesses, regulators and other stakeholders around the world.
Having filled a couple of key positions recently, we are now looking for a skilled and experienced business journalist who can help us to expand our coverage outside the EU and particularly in Asia. This will require meticulous online research, networking by phone, in person and online among business, government and NGO circles and helping to source and maintain a network of freelance journalists in relevant countries.
The successful applicant will be well travelled and have a keen interest in the culture, politics and economies of other countries as well as a common-sense understanding of business economics.You will also have some experience of covering government policy-making and regulation in at least one field. Other requirements include:
- You will need to demonstrate that you have initiative and drive as you will be working as part of a busy virtual global editorial team who will depend upon your delivering copy that keeps up our reputation for accuracy, objectivity and staying ahead of the game.
- You will show that you are able to make and cultivate contacts in the right fields and are always on the lookout for new issues and ways to communicate with our readership.
- You will be confident in your abilities and looking for a job that gives you considerable freedom and flexibility to show what you can achieve.
You will need to show a high standard of literacy and in the journalistic tools of note-taking and interviewing and a hunger for the pride that comes from delivering high quality intelligence. Any language skills will further boost your chances. You will need to be free to travel long-distance a few times each year and participate in regular “real world” meetings with other team members usually in the UK.
