Hours: 35 per week

Alzheimer’s Society is the UK’s leading support and research charity for people with dementia, their families and carers. There will be 850,000 people with dementia in the UK by 2015 with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025.
This role is in the Publishing team, based in the National Knowledge and Information Services part of the Operations directorate.
We are looking for an experienced editor who is looking to put their skills and experience to use to help improve the lives of people affected by dementia.
You will develop and review content across various channels – digital and print – for audiences including the general public, people affected by dementia and professionals. The role involves commissioning writers, copyeditors, proofreaders and designers, and liaising with our contracted print manager. You will also offer a publishing service to other Society teams. The Editor is responsible for championing the Society’s house style.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or have a relevant professional qualification. Advanced written skills and interpersonal abilities are required along with meticulous attention to detail and an excellent organisational ability. Ideally you will have experience using a CMS and an understanding of the health issues facing older people (or knowledge of the health and social care environment). It would also be advantageous if you are familiar with the Department of Health’s Information Standard accreditation scheme. If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
Alzheimer’s Society is committed to equal opportunities.
