We at re-Insurance.com need a superstar reporter to help us on our journey to build the leading publication in the world of insurance and reinsurance.
This is a great opportunity for someone currently working as a reporter with an interest in finance either at a trade title or a national publication. It would also suit someone currently working in the insurance industry looking to move into journalism.
We work at a high level, writing for a financially literate and relationship-driven market so we need a journalist who has a head for numbers and an easy way with people.
We are looking for an exclusives-getting news journalist that can spot a story in a company’s financials and unearth leads from off-record conversations with a book of contacts that will be growing day by day.
The role would be ideal for someone who has cut their teeth either in journalism or insurance and is now looking to take on a new challenge with significant responsibility as we build the title into a global publication.
Good IT skills are a must and an ability to find stories from the deepest, darkest corners of the web would help.
Duties and requirements:
- Quickly turning around punchy and accurate wire copy
- Sourcing exclusive news on a daily basis
- Building a strong contact book
- Editing copy
- Uploading content and assisting in managing the website
- Occasionally chairing roundtables and panels
We’re still a small business (for now), which means we all wear lots of hats (which gets quite hot) and you’ll be asked to wear a few too. Everyone in the office is an ‘I’ll do that!’ type and we’d like you to be the same. In return, there’s a golden opportunity to earn bigger roles and lots of responsibility far faster than you would in a long-established behemoth of a media business. Plus there are fantastic travel opportunities.
In the six months since relaunching as re-Insurance.com we have become one of the leading publications in the world of property and casualty insurance and reinsurance, which protects the owners of everything from satellites and cargo ships to Picassos and sports teams.
Based in the heart of the city - next door to the 332-year-old Lloyd’s insurance market - re-Insurance.com is building out its team of award winning journalists.
The publication itself had an almost a 50-year pedigree as Reinsurance Magazine before being rebranded as re-Insurance.com earlier this year after it was acquired.
Since then, the new owner - who founded another of the market’s leading titles The Insurance Insider - has invested heavily in re-Insurance.com, bringing in an all-new news-hungry team that has overhauled the editorial style to become a market-leading source of breaking news, analysis and opinion.
We are an ambitious but small team so we are looking for someone who is quick to learn and that has at least two years’ experience in journalism or insurance.
If that sounds like you, please send your CV along with a cover letter and any relevant writing samples demonstrating exclusive news coverage or the ability to get into the weeds of a company’s financials by completing the application form below.
