City A.M. is delighted to offer this excellent opportunity – commencing September – for an ambitious political and business journalist looking to make their mark in both Westminster and the Square Mile.
The successful candidate will have access to lobby briefings in Westminster, but must bring pre-existing, relevant contacts to the table.
Work as City A.M.’s dedicated political reporter: finding, pitching, writing and finalising stories for the website and newspaper, with an emphasis on political news as it affects business. This can include political and business stories from outside the so-called Westminster "bubble".
Be prepared to work as a general business reporter when required, and display an avid interest in business news.
Be prepared to work to a flexible shift pattern that includes some evenings, weekends, and early starts.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience of online reporting and understand how to drive audience through social media and search engines; and have an interest in data journalism and innovative ways of displaying content.
They must possess high levels of literacy and numeracy.
City A.M. operates a sub-less editing system, so the candidate must be able to write clean, accurate copy that is ready to print.
