Triangle News, Reporter
Who We Are
Triangle News is a London-based national news agency providing agenda-setting stories to Britain’s largest media outlets. If you read newspapers, magazines, surf the web or share news online, the chances are you will have seen one of our stories. We believe content should be entertaining, informative, shareable and targeted to the modern, mobile-centric consumer.
We are independently run and committed to making an impact on the world of journalism. You will be joining a small, friendly and ambitious team with a focus on delivering quality content.
We are looking for a people person who is buzzing with ideas and who lives and breathes news. A committed team player, you will be expected to work across all fields, one day writing a gritty crime spread for the Sunday Mirror, the next a short, catchy piece for the Sun. You must be keen to bounce your ideas off other members of the team and come in every day knowing exactly what’s on the news agenda.
The successful applicant absolutely must be a vibrant self-starter as you will not be drip-fed things to do. You will be expected to independently provide content, fully researched and of the highest quality, and will read several newspapers daily. Training and assistance will be provided and you will have the opportunity to work closely with our highly experienced news editor who has worked on multiple national titles.
There is huge potential to progress within the business. Travel will be required as you will have to attend press events and go searching for exclusive content.
We are looking for a reporter who can match our ambition and who is hungry to be a part of a ground-breaking news team. As we are a young business you will be reporting directly to the owners, meaning the opportunity to train and progress on the job will be significant.
It is essential that you live and breathe news and current affairs and come into the office every morning bursting to chat about what’s going on in the world.
You’ll need a strong news sense and must be capable of spotting what would make a good story for both the national newspapers, online sites and women’s magazines. Ideally you will have local newspaper or other similar experience.
You must also be confident interviewing people from all walks of life, often on extremely sensitive topics and under pressure. Chatty and approachable, you will feel as comfortable talking to the local vicar as you would the Prime Minister.
You must have an NCTJ journalism qualification or equivalent and 100wpm shorthand. A full clean driving licence is essential while access to a vehicle would be preferable.
This role is perfect for someone who has been working on local papers and is looking for a national newspaper challenge.
