Insider Publishing is looking to hire a Sub-Editor to join its 14-strong London-based editorial team.

The title

The fast-growing publishing house, which is part of Euromoney Institutional Investor, covers the global specialty and wholesale insurance markets and reinsurance sector.

Insider Publishing houses flagship title The Insurance Insider and four spin-off publications. As well as its team in London, the company has a New York office with nine editorial staff and analysts. It also has a significant events business.

The Insurance Insider is an award-winning news title that breaks scoops daily thanks to its broad network of off-the-record sources. Its team of experienced journalists also provide authoritative comment and agenda-shaping analysis to its C-suite readership.

The title is subscription revenue driven and fiercely editorially independent.

The role

The Sub-Editor will have responsibility, working alongside the Production Editor, for sub-editing news, analysis and opinion copy for The Insurance Insider and other Insider Publishing titles during normal London office hours.

They will also use Adobe InDesign to lay out content for the various titles. In addition, they will be expected to carry out picture research and format images using Photoshop, as well as creating simple graphics in Illustrator. They will also work with editorial staff to ensure that content is well presented on the website.

Over time the Sub-Editor will be expected to work with editorial staff to help them improve the standard of their writing.

Experience

The candidate will have some previous experience as a Sub-Editor, preferably with a background in business journalism, and will have worked on layout and design.

They will be well versed in using InDesign and will ideally have experience of creating simple graphics in Illustrator.

In addition, they will have experience of using content management systems.

They are unlikely to have direct knowledge of the insurance sector, but will be willing to learn how the market works.

The package

In addition to the basic salary package, staff are eligible for substantial twice-yearly bonuses.
