Who we are

Britain’s biggest national news agency group is looking for a super-keen reporter to join its office in Cambridge.

SWNS (South West News Service) supplies national newspapers, magazines and websites with sparkling copy and amazing pictures day in, day out.

The Role

We need a bright and ambitious reporter who wants to get stuck in – digging out great stories while juggling commissions from national titles and covering breaking news events.

You will be part of a dedicated team covering Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Suffolk and Norfolk. Under the guidance of a news editor, you will handle everything from court cases and inquests to vox pops and human interest tales.

Ideally, you will have some experience and be able to hit the ground running. But we will consider applications from rookies who are fast learners.

You must have an NCTJ journalism qualification or equivalent and 100wpm shorthand. A full clean driving licence is essential while access to a vehicle would be preferable.

This role is perfect for someone who has been working on local papers and is looking to break into the national newspapers.

How to apply:

We offer the best career prospects in the business – most of our reporters graduate onto jobs on national publications within two years. So if you have what it takes, apply by completing the application form below.
