Over the past two years The Jackal has cemented its place as one of the premier men’s magazines on the market - now it’s looking to the future.

We’re looking for a dynamic and ambitious Features Editor to join the team who will craft and commission engaging and imaginative content that’s relevant for how men live and work in the capital today

Working with the existing team, the ideal candidate will have a wide range of interests from style to sport, fitness to food, Westminster to wine.

This person will be full of ideas that work across our print, digital and social media platforms that appeal to The Jackal man, from in-depth features to interviews and profile pieces relevant to how men live and work circa now.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To come up with strong story suggestions for our print, online and social media platforms alongside the Editor and Creative Director, and to foster a culture of open-discussion and idea-sharing between colleagues.
  • To originate, research and write in-depth features, interviews and profiles for the magazine and online.
  • To commission, brief and edit content from colleagues and contributors, as well as maintaining a network of freelance writers who work for the magazine.
  • To search out new, exciting and relevant voices for the magazine.
  • To call-in images as needed, maintain and adhere to deadlines, and support the brand’s social media output.
  • To network with industry figures on behalf of The Jackal at industry events (these may be in the evening), and make your own connections.
  • To support the Editor and Creative Director as needed.

Your key skills should be:

  • A clear understanding of who the reader is and what sets The Jackal apart in the market.
  • The ability to produce creative, accurate and innovative content for our print, digital and social media offerings - and to think about how ideas work across these.
  • Experience of commissioning and managing both junior colleagues and freelance contributors, as well as demonstrable experience of seeking out new contributors.
  • Enthusiasm, a strong voice and varied subject interests.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • An ability to use analytics to maximise the potential reach of editorial output.
  • Excellent commercial awareness.
  • Track record of working as a features, commissioning or section editor at a similar prestige title.
