Job Details

The Wall Street Journal is looking for an experienced and motivated editor to lead its team of reporters covering the Justice Department, the Supreme Court and the federal judiciary.

The remit encompasses a wide range of the most important stories from Washington, from the future of the Justice Department as an institution to the future direction of the Supreme Court.

The editor will be responsible for helping set reporter priorities, conceive of great stories -- with an emphasis on scoops and deeply-reported analysis -- and elevate copy to the highest standards of WSJ journalism.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the subject matter, but that is not mandatory. The remit covers the Justice Department (criminal, civil and anti-trust), the FBI and the special counsel, as well as their relations with Congress and the White House. It also covers Supreme Court decisions and trends and helps oversee coverage of broader issues involving the federal judiciary nationwide.

The Justice & Judiciary Editor will be based in Washington, D.C., and report to the Washington Bureau Chief.
