Please note we are flexible on location, this role can be based at either one of the following offices; London, Reading, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester or Edinburgh.
This is an exciting role leading on amplifying the firm’s technology offerings, from AI to cyber security, and working with senior leaders at KPMG to produce and deliver a coordinated strategy that builds our profile in both the national and trade media.
The successful candidate will also manage the PR strategy for the firm’s busy media and telecoms and transport teams.
This will involve engaging with a range of stakeholders both within KPMG and externally to deliver proactive PR campaigns, building relationships with key members of the trade and national media; and being sensitive to emerging risks.
This role sits within the Public Relations team, which is part of the Corporate Affairs function at KPMG. The team manages the firm’s relationship with the media and other external stakeholders: proactively pitching stories in line with the firm’s strategic priorities and managing reactive risk issues and public interest in the firm.
The successful candidate will:
- Lead and deliver a creative PR strategy for technology (including digital transformation, AI, cyber, CIO advisory) that is aligned to the firm’s commercial objectives.
- Work with our senior stakeholders across TMT and transport to deliver positive press coverage and protect the firm’s brand.
- Communicate confidently with a range of senior stakeholders both internally and externally.
- Demonstrate sound news judgment and media handling, excellent contacts and the ability to use initiative on a wide variety of issues and topics.
- The successful candidate will also live, and be an advocate of, the KPMG values.
Qualifications and Skills
- A background in a relatable PR role either in agency or in-house
- Experience in technology PR is desirable
- Experience of managing senior stakeholders
- An ability to manage many competing demands and to prioritise effectively
- A familiarity with, or willingness to learn about, the issues affecting KPMG and our clients
- Excellent oral and written communication skills – able to tailor style and approach for different audiences
- An understanding of our key media audiences and how to engage with them
- Experience of managing risk
- The ability to manage media relations within a services environment
