The WI is the largest women’s organisation with almost 215,000 members. It plays a unique role in providing women with educational opportunities, the chance to build new skills and campaign on issues that matter to them.

WI Life, the national membership magazine of the Women’s Institute, is seeking an exceptional Editorial Assistant.

The ideal candidate is someone who is able to perform administrative tasks to a high standard but is also keen to develop their writing skills. This role will support both the editorial and advertising teams.

Ideally you will hold a degree in English or have proven equivalent experience. A NCTJ qualification would be helpful, although not essential. You will need to be able to demonstrate first rate organisational and administrative skills. The role includes dealing with correspondence from the membership, answering the telephone, updating the membership database, filing, providing secretarial support to the Freelance Editor, along with preparing the invoice spreadsheet and copy-chasing for the advertising team.

We are seeking someone who is full of ideas and starting out or having a career change in magazine journalism. You need to have the confidence to research and write news stories and occasional features and conduct interviews.

For further information about this varied and exciting role, please download the recruitment pack from the 'Supporting documents' section below, which includes the job description and person specification. If you have any queries prior to applying, you're welcome to contact the HR department on 020 7371 9300 ext. 236.
