The Wall Street Journal is seeking a reporter who is obsessed with sports data and the fascinating, unexpected insights it can unearth.

This reporter, who will be hired on a contract basis, would oversee and expand one of the section's most popular features, The Count, which uses the ever-expanding universe of sports statistics as a gateway to a deeper understanding of how athletes and teams perform.

The perfect candidate for this job will be a number-crunching geek who also loves great storytelling and can mine sports data to identify unusual themes and topics, both for the reporter's own stories and for the entire WSJ Sports team.
