Job Details

The Chinese online version of The Wall Street Journal (CWSJ) is offering a full-time position of social media editor in its Beijing newsroom.

This person will be a crucial and direct channel between CWSJ and its audience and in charge of several most influential social media accounts with more than 24 million followers in total on platforms including Weibo, WeChat, Twitter and Facebook.

Applicants should hold a bachelor or master degree in English, journalism, finance or economics. Previous working experience in journalism or social media is a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee CWSJ's various social media platforms, including Weibo, WeChat, Twitter, Facebook etc.
  • Build close and timely interaction with audience.
  • Plan and organize reader-engaging online events.
  • Compile user-generated contents on all platforms, both social media and website.
  • Participate in CWSJ's Professional Information Business projects.
  • Contribute to posting multimedia content on CWSJ, including slideshows and videos.


Requirements:

  • A magician who can transform hardcore journalism into social media stories that can go viral. The person should have a comprehensive knowledge of social media with a good understanding of readers' interest.
  • A joint in the newsroom. The person is expected to be excellent at people skills to collaborate with different departments.
  • A tailor of stories. The person should have outstanding judgement on news and impeccable skills of editing.
  • A language master. From Shakespeare to Internet slangs, the person should be a living dictionary when it comes to language creativity.
  • A self-motivator that is organized and expert at prioritization.
  • An effective team player who can deliver professionalism even under stress scenarios.
  • A perfectionist who is willing to go the extra mile to rule out the most invisible errors and imperfections.
