H2O Publishing is searching for the ideal candidate to take control of EDUcatering, one of its leading monthly titles, as well as other products/projects within the company.
This unique role covers one of the most crucial topics in B2B journalism – feeding the UK’s school pupils.
The editor will be expected to document industry-leading catering options that schools and education facilities have to offer, as well as food and nutrition trends, legislation and anything else that comes out of the kitchen.
You will be responsible for researching and writing core content within the title, which will vary from exclusive interviews, focuses on food, drink and new projects, to trends and catering equipment.
As well as this, you will be expected to commission freelancers and proofreaders, and constantly monitor the school meals industry across the UK, reflecting your knowledge and findings within your writing across print and digital platforms.
You will be in regular contact with industry operators, associations, PRs and suppliers, establishing and continuing the vital relationships needed to create polished content for the title, as well as enhancing events such as the EDUcatering Excellence Awards.
You will be expected to contribute daily news stories to the magazine websites, while keeping Twitter and Instagram activity targeted, engaging and updated.
As well as delivering fresh-thinking content and ideas that meet the strategy of the editorial director, you should be willing to regularly attend evening events and industry launches. These are predominantly based in London, but you will be encouraged to travel the country and even abroad on occasions. These are just a couple of perks to the role.

The successful candidate should demonstrate initiative and drive, as well as enjoyment in being part of a friendly team. You should be comfortable working independently and leading freelancers/budgets, as well as being ready to take instruction when necessary.
The ideal candidate should have experience in writing for/editing a trade publication within the catering industry, as well as holding an NCTJ or relevant journalism qualification. Previous work in trade events and awards would also be favourable.
You should have experience in (but not limited to):

- Microsoft Office
- Website management
