Job Details

What is the job?

Joining the Library team, you’ll work alongside the Editorial Director, Editor and Commissioning Editor to help deliver exceptional content to a clear strategy, meeting tight deadlines.

We publish three different types of content: trend Reports, Case Studies, and Signals. You’ll own the Signals and be responsible for the smooth publishing of Case Studies.

As Signals Editor you will publish 10 concise people-led stories every day, ensuring they meet our clients varied needs.

Signals are our shortest content, but are amongst the most important. Tracking signs of behavioural change on a global scale (from ballet classes for Swedish seniors to CBD tea for non-drinking Gen Y) the are the building blocks for our other content types. Commissioned from our team of in-house analysts, you’ll help them distil complex ideas into insightful, snappy prose.

Each month you’ll be given a budget to commission Case Studies which unpick innovative brands. Developing a roster of diverse freelance writers and maintaining these relationships will ensure the most useful insights are uncovered.

What is my day-to-day?

  • Commissioning, editing and managing the publishing of daily Signals
  • Commissioning, editing and managing the publishing of Case studies
  • Contributing to a clear editorial direction
  • Staying ahead of industry trends and cultural changes
  • Rigorously planning and maintaining the publishing schedule
  • Managing commissioning budgets
  • Setting deadlines and ensuring adherence
  • Editing, proofing and copywriting

About you:

Super-organised, you’ll enjoy managing deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be a natural mentor and motivator, keen to chat through ideas and equally not afraid to crack the whip to instil deadlines when necessary.

You’ll have a minimum of two years’ experience working in a publishing environment and feel comfortable managing commissioning budgets. You’ll be a talented copy editor, and take joy in turning complex concepts into simple and articulate prose.

Culturally aware, you’ll be comfortable discussing ideas, thinking laterally and applying them commercially.

  • Degree-level education
  • A minimum of two years’ editorial experience
  • Solid experience of editing and proofing content
  • Experience in a fast-paced digital publishing environment
  • Experience in commissioning and managing budgets
  • An ability to distil complex ideas into plain English
  • Exceptional organisation and attention to detail
  • Confidence interviewing in a professional manner
  • Knowledge of the media, communications and design industries

  • A competitive starting salary, dependent on experience
  • 21 days paid holiday + bank holidays
  • A workplace pension with company match above minimum requirements
  • Cash back health plan and cycle scheme
