The Grocer, Managing Editor
The Grocer is looking for a new No2 to manage its day-to-day operations and help steer the UK’s biggest, most interesting and most widely respected B2B title through its continued evolution as a successful multi-media brand.
With responsibility for a 27-strong editorial team, and working across various print, online and newsletter publications, this is a big job.
And the successful applicant will be joining at an exciting time, as The Grocer is expanding its editorial team to support the development of new content, new channels and new workflows.
We’re looking for an outstanding business journalist and a superb people manager and motivator, with strong delegation skills, but also a willingness to sweat the details. You’ll also need to be organised, fast, flexible and creative.
Experience in commissioning and editing both news and features (probably on a business weekly or the business section of a daily newspaper) is essential, as is an understanding of online, audio-visual and social media.
Knowledge of retail, food and drink, fast moving consumer goods, and all the myriad issues and topics The Grocer covers – the economy, health & obesity, food safety, entrepreneurship, online, the environment, technology, npd, in-store merchandising, supply chain, pay & remuneration, commodities – is not essential, but will clearly be welcome.
The Grocer is the award-winning flagship of the highly successful William Reed group, a family-owned magazine, new media, events and research business, whose interests include operations in the UK, Singapore, France, China and the US.
We’re based just 30 minutes from the lively seaside town of Brighton, and 10 minutes from Gatwick, with its fast connections to London and the world.
We can offer a competitive salary and a great benefits package including a contributory pension, life assurance, 25 days’ holiday and discounted gym membership.
